Tenute Gregu’s Selenu X: Tre Bicchieri, 96 points from Suckling and 95 from DoctorWine for its tenth harvest

30 September 2026
Vigneto Selenu x Tenute Gregu

Selenu X 2024, the Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG from Tenute Gregu, collected four awards in autumn 2026: Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri in the Vini d’Italia 2027 guide, 96 points and No. 41 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of Italy 2026, and 95/100 with the Faccino seal in DoctorWine’s Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia 2027. The same guide named the estate Emerging Producer 2027. With this vintage the winery, based in Calangianus in the Gallura region of north-eastern Sardinia, marks the tenth harvest of Selenu, released with a restyled label.

Tre Bicchieri 2027: Tenute Gregu’s Selenu among Sardinia’s 18 winners

In the Gambero Rosso guide the wine is listed as Selenu X Vendemmia 2024. Sardinia has 18 Tre Bicchieri this year, the island’s highest total ever according to the count published by Le Strade del Vino Sardegna.

Four went to Vermentino di Gallura, either Superiore or late harvest, and Selenu is one of them.

96 points and No. 41 in James Suckling’s Top 100

The JamesSuckling.com team picked its Top 100 Wines of Italy 2026 from about 7,000 Italian wines tasted over the past year. Selenu 2024 comes in at No. 41 with 96 points.

In our view this is the result that matters most. The list leans heavily on age-worthy reds: Brunello di Montalcino alone takes 12 places, as WineNews counted. A 2024 Sardinian white in that company means an American importer scanning the list finds Gallura next to Montalcino and the Langhe. For Vermentino di Gallura, that kind of exposure is rare.

95 points and Emerging Producer 2027 from DoctorWine

The Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia 2027, edited by the critic Daniele Cernilli, reviews 3,476 wines from 1,347 producers. DoctorWine’s Faccino, a small smiley-face symbol, marks wines scoring 95, 96 or 97 points, and Selenu 2024 earns it with 95.

The Emerging Producer award looks at the estate as a whole. DoctorWine describes it as recognition for a new or little-known producer that is moving forward fast. Tenute Gregu bottled its first vintage in 2014.

Where Selenu comes from: granite and 500 metres below Monte Limbara

The Gregu family bought the land in 2011, in the countryside around Calangianus, at the foot of Monte Limbara and looking out towards the island of Tavolara. The vineyards rise to 500 metres above sea level on granite soils. Wind blows here almost constantly. The diurnal temperature range is wide, dew forms on the bunches and ripening slows down.

For Selenu the estate picks at first light, while the grapes are still wet with the night’s dew.

What is Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG?

Vermentino di Gallura is Sardinia’s only DOCG, the top tier of Italian wine appellations, which it gained in 1996. The production regulations (disciplinare) require at least 95% Vermentino from vineyards in Gallura, in the island’s north-east. The Superiore category lowers the maximum yield to 9 tonnes of grapes per hectare, against 10 for the standard wine, and raises the minimum natural potential alcohol of the grapes to 12%.

Beyond Selenu: the Tenute Gregu premium line

Selenu is the wine the project started with. In 2024 the estate added a limited-production premium line: Pitraia, its second Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG; Calagranis, an Isola dei Nuraghi IGT from 100% Carignano; and Greho’s, a Colli del Limbara IGT blending five red varieties grown on the estate (Cannonau, Carignano, Muristellu, Merlot and Syrah).

Antioco Gregu runs Tenute Gregu today with his sons Raffaele and Federico, alongside Marianna Pinna, who oversees hospitality. The estate welcomes visitors by appointment for vineyard tours and tastings. We covered the tenth-anniversary Special Edition label in Selenu turns ten.
