Boscarelli and Villa Fiorelli: 8.5 hectares of vineyard in Cervognano and a farm stay opening in 2027

28 September 2026

Poderi Boscarelli, a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano producer founded in 1962 in Cervognano, has acquired Villa Fiorelli, a 14-hectare property bordering the heart of the estate. Boscarelli signed the deed in January 2025, but it had already been farming the vineyards since spring 2024 and harvested them that autumn. The villa will also open to guests, with the 2027 season as the target.

Where is Villa Fiorelli?

Villa Fiorelli is in Cervognano, on the eastern slopes of Montepulciano that run down towards the Val di Chiana, in southern Tuscany. It sits on a hill slightly higher than the one where the historic winery stands, with the same type of soil. For Boscarelli this is the land next door, known for decades.

The villa dates from the mid-nineteenth century. Around it lie a park of ancient origin and olive groves with centuries-old trees that survived the harshest frosts. The history of the site goes back further still: the area shows traces of Etruscan settlement.

The vineyards: six plots built around Sangiovese

Of the 14 hectares, 8.5 are under vine and 2 are olive groves. Most of the vineyards were replanted twenty to twenty-five years ago, so they are now fully mature and in full production.

Sangiovese remains at the centre of the project. Each plot has its own name: Vigna Cervognano, Vigna Il Giardino, Vigna Nuova, Vigna Sperimentale, il Vignone and Vigna Pozzagnone. Boscarelli will rethink and replant one further section in the coming years.

Vigna Cervognano and the prospect of a Pieve wine

Of the six plots, Vigna Cervognano shows the most distinctive potential. Its soil recalls that of the Nocio vineyard, source of Nocio dei Boscarelli, the estate’s flagship wine, made since 1991.

This opens up the possibility of a wine that expresses this hill on its own: a new cru, or perhaps a Pieve. Cervognano is one of the twelve Pievi of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the geographic subzones introduced by the consortium. A Pieve wine must contain at least 85% Sangiovese, use only estate-grown grapes and come from vines at least fifteen years old. For anyone following Vino Nobile, in our view this is the most interesting part of the whole deal.

Hospitality at Villa Fiorelli from 2027

Boscarelli is converting Villa Fiorelli into a place to stay, with an agriturismo (farm stay) and private experiences, and work is already under way. The ground floor will house a cellar serving the surrounding vineyards. Vinification will stay in the estate’s historic winery, while ageing takes place in the villa’s underground cellar, which is already in use.

The target is the 2027 season. The idea is small-scale hospitality, where guests sleep, walk and drink among the same vines that end up in the bottle.

More white wine: Viognier and Petit Manseng

At Villa Fiorelli, Boscarelli has planted a new hectare of Viognier and Petit Manseng. The current label, Il Bianco IGT Toscana, will remain the estate’s only white. The winery expects around 5,000 bottles from the 2025 vintage; once the new vines come into production, volumes could double.
